Just before my surgery about a year ago... I rode a little wooden roller coaster, came around a corner and it threw my body to the left in my seat and slammed my against the side. It took my breath away! I could hardly move to get out of my seat. Last month, (about 11 months later) I rode that same roller coaster, and I held my breath and closed my eyes as the coaster rounded that corner, expecting to feel a stabbing pain at any moment... then, BAM! it slammed me to the side again, but this time... NOTHING! Not even a little...I'm amazed at all the little things that I can do pain free now that make a difference in enjoying things in life.

Throughout my whole surgical process I have had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Birmingham. Pre and post-op he was outstanding. I was very nervous before my surgery and Dr. Birmingham made me feel at ease. He always took the time to answer my questions patiently and thoroughly. I never once felt rushed and he always made sure I understood everything about my condition and the upcoming procedure. Since my hip scope, I have been completely pain free and have been able to return to all of my "normal" activities. I dealt with chronic hip pain for three years and immediately after surgery my condition improved. I feel like I have a brand new hip thanks to Dr. Birmingham and would recommend him to everyone.

Before going to Dr. Birmingham we had narrowed our choices down to Boston Children's and HSS, but really wanted to find someone closer to home. As parents, we knew you were the one we wanted after our first visit and our daughter also took an instant liking to you, she hadn't felt that way about the other doctors we had seen. The fact that you were involved in all aspects from x-rays to injection to surgery to the day 2 post-op follow-up truly stands out in our minds. Other doctors we had seen told her to come back when she was 27, that they wouldn't operate on a teenager. "I have nothing but praise for the excellent care I received from Dr. Birmingham and his staff-before, during, and after my hip arthroscopy. My many questions were always answered promptly and patiently. Dr. Birmingham was very thorough in his explanations of my condition, procedures, and expected recovery. Now at four weeks post-op, I am happily leaving my crutches behind and off of anti-inflammatories for the first time in 8 months.
